Team managers entering the 2027 Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic carry four dates into February and a $50 fee behind the last one. The tournament runs 13 to 15 February 2027 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW, Washington, DC 20001, with age groups 12s through 18s in the Open, Patriot and Club divisions. The organiser lists 122 courts and 968 teams across Halls A, B, C, D, E and the ballroom.
Rosters lock at noon on 12 February
The organiser locks every roster on 12 February 2027 at 12pm EST. A change made after that clock costs $50. The check-in page states the rule and routes questions to info@capitolhillvolleyball.com.
Four dates ahead of the lock
Validate and import rosters in the USAV system before 5pm EST on 1 February 2027. The check-in page states that CHVC cannot fix roster validation issues, so a missing membership or a mismatched date has to clear with the USAV office before that deadline.
Online team check-in opens 8 February 2027 at 9am EST and closes 10 February 2027 at 4pm EST. Seeding uses tournament results through 1 February 2027, so a late result cannot lift a team's pool placement.
The roster locks 12 February 2027 at 12pm EST. Every name, uniform number, birthdate and position has to be correct by then.
What a compliant roster holds
Fifteen athletes. A team may carry 5 staff members, 3 of them assigned primary roles. Each staff member holds a role on a team within the club, and a staff member listed on more than one team needs one primary team.
All staff need a valid background screening and SafeSport certification. Both the head coach and the assistant coach must hold IMPACT certification, and one of them stays on the bench at all times. Each coach needs a cell phone number listed. Athlete uniform number, birthdate and position are mandatory at check-in.
USAV full membership is required for every person on the official roster. The Chesapeake Region does not allow age-waivered players on a roster, so a club carrying a waivered athlete into February has no fix at the check-in desk.
The entry fee and the room floor beside it
Entry costs $1,100 per team plus processing fees. Payment runs online by card or ACH, and checks are not accepted for the 2027 event. Registration opened 1 October 2026 at 10am EST through Otto Event, formerly SportWrench, and closes when the field fills.
Stay and Play ties the entry to the room block. A team must hold 18 room nights on one contract with THS at an approved hotel before entry is complete. Six rooms for three nights reaches the floor. If the reservation drops below 18 room nights at any point, THS makes contact and the team has 24 hours to correct it. After that window the hotel contract and the tournament entry may be cancelled, and a penalty set by the tournament directors applies. Deposits and entry fees already paid are non-refundable, and a re-entry restarts the club's application date.
General Hotel registration opens 28 October 2026 at 10am EST. The Loyalty Program sets 90 percent use on the rooms a team originally booked, and Loyalty teams cannot recover team registration fees.
Run the floor across the field. Nine hundred sixty-eight teams at 18 room nights each is 17,424 room nights if every team books the minimum.
The room nights and the District tax
A full roster plus staff is 20 people. Spectator rooms sit outside the team contract. The admissions page requires a team code for every spectator ticket, sells tickets online only, and issues a QR code plus a matched photo ID for entry and re-entry. Admission hours run 7am to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday and 7am to 2pm on Monday, Entry opens one hour before the first match.
Room cost carries the District's transient accommodations tax. The Office of Tax and Revenue lists 15.95 percent on room charges, extended until 30 September 2027. At a $100 nightly rate the tax adds $15.95 per room per night.
Parking, Metro and the 20-person arrival
Events DC points drivers to multiple parking garages around the Convention Center with hourly and daily rates. Metro's Green and Yellow lines stop at Mt. Vernon Square/7th Street-Convention Center station, which sits under the building. The Red Line to Gallery Place-Chinatown leaves a five-minute walk, and Amtrak's Union Station connects on the Red Line. Washington is served by DCA, IAD and BWI.
Book the Monday flight after 6pm
The format page recommends a 6pm or later departure on Monday 15 February. Pool play runs on days one and two, bracket play runs on day three, and Monday admission closes at 2pm. A flight before the bracket finishes forces a choice between the match and the airport.
