Children's Gasparilla opens Tampa's parade season on Saturday, 23 January 2027. EventFest, Inc. produces the day on Bayshore Boulevard, and the published footprint carries no alcohol. That rule makes the date usable for a staff group that includes children.
The organiser publishes a 12:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. window and marks every time subject to change. Admission is free.
The published day, block by block
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Rodeo runs 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Bayshore between Rome and Dakota avenues. Volunteers fit free bicycle helmets while supplies last. The organiser asks for no registration.
The Gasparilla Air Invasion runs 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Civilian aerobatic teams, vintage military aircraft and the Chuters Parachute Demonstration Team fly the waterfront. The Chuters land at DeSoto and Bayshore, one block north of Howard and Bayshore.
The Preschooler's Stroll runs 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Children five and under walk from Howard Avenue to Rome Avenue in decorated wagons, trikes and strollers. Pre-registration is required.
The Children's Gasparilla Parade runs 3:30 to 6:15 p.m. The published route covers 1.5 miles from Bay to Bay Boulevard and Bayshore Boulevard to Edison Avenue, and carries more than 125 entry units of krewes, marching bands, dance groups and school performance teams.
The Nighttime Air Invasion runs 6:20 to 7:00 p.m., with a second Chuters jump and Ghostwriter Airshows' fireworks flight. The Piratechnic Finale runs 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., and the krewe recreates the battle between the pirates of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and the City of Tampa.
What the alcohol rule does to a group plan
Children's Gasparilla is an alcohol-free event. Alcohol is prohibited, and the organiser states the rule is strictly enforced. Beer and wine sales start the following Saturday at Gasparilla Pirate Fest. A manager building a family day therefore plans food, transport and seating.
Outside food and beverages are not permitted. Glass containers are barred under a City of Tampa ordinance, coolers are barred on the parade route, and styrofoam is barred. Small soft-sided coolers and lunch bags are allowed for childcare and medical needs only. Grills, tents, rope or fencing, scooters, vehicles, weapons and pets are prohibited. Animals assisting people with disabilities are the published exception.
The route, and how a group holds space
Space along the route is held by physical occupation. The organiser permits spectators to claim a spot after dawn and asks them to stay in it. Chairs and blankets are allowed. Tents of any kind and rope, stake or fence markers are banned, and unapproved banners and signs are removed.
Crossings sit at every block from Barcelona Street to Edison Avenue, and the organiser confirms that a reserved ticket is not needed to reach the waterside of the route. A group holding reserved seats has to arrive before the 3:30 p.m. start, because gate security crosses guests only in a break in the lineup.
Parking on the day
City-run garages and lots across downtown charge a special event parking rate paid on entry. The organiser publishes no figure for that rate, so a planner should ask the City of Tampa Parking Division before quoting a cost to staff.
Parking in the neighbourhoods that border the route is not permitted. The Tampa Police Department enforces the event parking policy, and communities enforce towing along the route. The event states it is not responsible for vehicles towed.
The free trolley is the published alternative. The Jolley Roger Trolley is wheelchair-accessible, picks up at the corner of Platt and Bayshore Boulevard, and drops passengers at Bay to Bay Boulevard and the Crosstown Expressway on-ramp, 1.5 blocks west of Bayshore. It loops continuously from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Accessibility details that change a headcount
Free disabled parking sits at Howard and Palm Drive on a first-come basis with a permit, and the area holds no seats or bleachers. The designated viewing area for patrons with disabilities is at Howard Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard, again with no seats or bleachers. Each patron with a disability may bring three guests into that area. Reserved seating for patrons with disabilities is ordered through gasparillatreasures.com or on 813-251-8844.
A sensory relief zone runs at the southwest corner of Barcelona Street, staffed by the City of Tampa Autism Friendly advisory group, CARD-USF and Sunrise Group. The organiser states the tent runs for Children's Gasparilla and is unavailable at Gasparilla Pirate Fest on 30 January.
Seat prices for staff who want a base
Early-bird bleacher seating starts at $55 per person. First Mate chairs, two rows in single seats, start at $65. The Scully Hospitality Experience carries $165 for an adult and $55 for a child, and includes pre-parade entertainment, a tented area, private bathrooms and a buffet with beverages. Advertised prices include service fees, and sales tax is added at purchase. Early-bird pricing closes on Thursday, 31 December 2026. The ticket line is 813-251-8844, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Rooms for a Florida group
bookmyteam.org states that it cannot process hotel booking requests from residents of, or for travel to, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington. Florida's notice cites Chapter 559, Florida Statutes, and registration with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The notice is published at bookmyteam.org/seller-of-travel, and compliance questions go to compliance@hotelhuddle.com.
A Tampa group books with property sales offices directly. Put three questions to each one in writing: the group rate, the cut-off date and the minimum stay. Ask for the same three on the confirmation.
The list to send staff
Send the six block times, the 3:30 p.m. start, the trolley window and the prohibition list. Add a meeting point, and give each family the organiser's lost-child instruction: report a missing child to the nearest police officer, who contacts Event Police Command. The City of Tampa expects over 300,000 spectators across the two parade days, so arrival time is the plan.
