The day: five events on one ticket

The 42nd Annual Circle City Classic football day runs Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Lucas Oil Stadium, 500 S. Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46225. The organiser, Indiana Black Expo, sells it as five events on one ticket with all-day access from 10:00am to 9:00pm. The venue's listing runs the day to 10:00pm, when the Tailgate and Fan Festival on South Street closes.

The stadium publishes its entry times. The South Parking Lot opens at 8:00am. The ticket office and the gates open at 9:00am. The first kick-off is at 10:00am.

The six schools on the field

Two girls flag football matchups and two high school showcase games fill the field. Matchup one: Crispus Attucks against Arsenal Tech, 10:00am to 11:15am. Matchup two: Lawrence North against Ben Davis, 11:30am to 12:45pm. Showcase one brings Warren Central to Pike, with ceremonies at 1:45pm and kick-off at 2:00pm. Showcase two is Lawrence North at Ben Davis, with ceremonies at 6:45pm and kick-off at 7:00pm.

Between the games, the HBCU Battle of the Bands runs 5:00pm to 6:00pm on the field with Talladega College, Kentucky State University and Miles College. Three rooms run alongside: the networking forum in the Blue Room from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Education Day and the college fair in the Upper East Club Lounge from 11:00am to 2:30pm, and the Day Party in the Upper West Club from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

One Saturday night, one rooming list

A school travelling to this game needs one night. Six schools bring squads, and three college band units bring more people than the teams do. A 40-strong band in twenty doubles is 20 room-nights for the night of Saturday, September 26. Adding the Friday pep rally night doubles it to 40.

One reservation and one rooming list keeps a group that size together. Collect names, room pairings and the supervising adult for each room before the request goes out, and send the pairings in one document.

The room block the organiser ran is closed

Indiana Black Expo linked a Passkey reservation site for the Classic. That site is now closed to new reservations and directs visitors to contact a property directly. It lists four properties: Hyatt House Downtown Indianapolis at 130 South Pennsylvania Street, Wyndham Indianapolis Airport at 2544 Executive Drive, Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Airport at 8910 Hatfield Drive, and Embassy Suites Plainfield at 6089 Clarks Creek Road in Plainfield. No nightly rate is published.

Those addresses split a group hard. Hyatt House Downtown is 0.5 miles straight-line from Lucas Oil Stadium. Wyndham Indianapolis Airport is 5.48 miles out, Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Airport 9.99 miles, and Embassy Suites Plainfield 12.21 miles. A band carrying instruments can walk from the downtown property. Three of the four sit outside the city centre.

Downtown Indianapolis holds 7,100 hotel rooms, with 4,700 connected to the Indiana Convention Center by skywalk.

The parade fills downtown at 10:00am

The Classic Parade steps off Saturday, September 26 at 10:00am through downtown Indianapolis, and the organiser says nearly 100,000 spectators gather for it each year. A pep rally runs on the Friday, September 25, and Talent Day runs the same day for student athletes, graduates and employers.

Cashless, clear bags and no re-entry after 5:00pm

Lucas Oil Stadium is a cashless venue and the Clear Bag Policy is in effect. The organiser's Know Before You Go card allows a clear bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a small clutch no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Regular purses and backpacks are not permitted.

The same card states re-entry is not permitted after 5:00pm. That lands during the Battle of the Bands, so a student who leaves the building after 5:00pm does not come back in. The card also begins the day at 11:00am, against the venue's 9:00am gates and 10:00am first kick-off, so brief the group on the earlier time.

The weekend is contested

Two large events share these two nights downtown. The Indiana Convention Center holds the Do it Best Corp. Fall Market from September 25 to 28 with a published forecast attendance of 12,000, and the Classic brings the parade's near-100,000 spectators and a full stadium day to Lucas Oil Stadium. The Saturday night is the scarce item, and it is the only night most of these schools need.

Booking the rooms

bookMyTeam publishes group rates from a block of 10 or more rooms per night, with some hotels discounting from as few as five depending on season and availability, against a published band of 15-40% below rack rates. A request reaches 50+ hotels per destination, replies typically arrive in 24-72 hours, and the platform charges $0 in fees. A band's twenty rooms clears the ten-room threshold, and a squad's ten sits at it.

The money, at an example rate of $200 a room a night: a 40-strong band in twenty doubles for the Saturday night is 20 room-nights, $4,000, or $3,400 at 15% off, or $2,400 at 40% off. Adding the Friday night makes it 40 room-nights and doubles every figure. No rate for these dates is published, so the $200 is the planner's own input.

Four questions decide whether the trip runs smoothly, and no source publishes the answers for this weekend: the bed configuration in the rooms the group is allocated, the breakfast opening hour against an 8:00am parking lot, whether a bus or van can park and at what cost, and whether the whole group can be held on one floor. Put all four into the request.

Start with the team rate request, size the figure on the group rate calculator, read how it works, and browse the Indianapolis directory.
