A student conference that maps onto a corporate move
Oregon DECA brings its State Career Development Conference to the Oregon Convention Center from 6 to 8 February 2027. The organiser expects nearly 1,000 students in Hall B across three days of competitive events, leadership sessions and networking.
The convention center lists the booking as 6 to 9 February. Both dates are published. A corporate planner who copies this template books the three conference days and asks the venue about the fourth morning.
The delegation solves three problems that a corporate group of ten rooms also faces. It parks vehicles. It moves a group to the building. It holds a room block. The venue publishes its answers to all three.
The garage decides the vehicle plan
The underground garage holds 800 spaces. Drivers enter from NE Lloyd Boulevard at P1 or NE First Avenue at P2. P1 clears 7 feet. P2 clears 9 feet. Ten accessible spaces sit on P1 and 11 on P2, first come and first served.
Standard entry costs $15 for up to 18 hours. The ticket carries no in-and-out privilege. Events charge a dynamic $15 to $25 at garage entry. The garage opens at 6 a.m.
Height sets the route. A vehicle taller than 7 feet takes P2. Measure any van or shuttle before it leaves the depot, then send the tall unit to the NE First Avenue entrance.
No trailers and no overnight stays
The venue bars RVs, campers, trucks with trailers and similar oversized vehicles from the garage. Overnight parking is prohibited. A crew that plans to leave an equipment trailer in place for three days needs another arrangement before it books.
Oversized vehicles can take parking directions at check-in. The venue asks crews to agree the load-in time and the ramp with the show manager.
The building runs cashless. A visitor holding only cash can load a Visa card at the reverse ATM, down the short hallway to the left of the welcome desk in the MLK Lobby. The card loads once, carries no fee, and works at the cafes and in the garage. Five ATMs sit inside the building.
Eight miles from the airport and 566 meters nearby
The building sits eight miles from Portland International Airport by the venue's published figure. MAX light rail stops 300 times a day near the front door. The Portland Streetcar A Loop reaches the NE MLK and Hoyt stop every 15 minutes. Bus line 6 stops at NE MLK and Holladay or NE MLK and Hoyt, and the second stop serves the Ginkoberry entrance.
For drivers, 566 metered spaces sit within three blocks. Drop-off and pickup zones run along NE Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Holladay Street.
TriMet charges $2.80 for 2.5 hours, $5.60 for a day pass and $100 for a month. Ten staff on a day pass cost $56 a day, or $168 across the three conference days. Nine garage entries, three vehicles on three days, cost $135 to $225.
The room block arrives as a rooming list
Oregon DECA names its hotel on the conference page: the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay Street. The page carries no rate, no cut-off and no block size. Its hotel-information form and rooming-list template sit inside a member community that requires an account.
A corporate group builds the same instrument with a request for proposal. bookMyTeam sends one request to 50 or more hotels per destination. Hotels quote their own terms and the group compares the offers in one dashboard. Most hotels offer group rates at 10 or more rooms a night, and some quote from five rooms depending on season and availability.
The platform lists 103,857 hotels across 46 states and reports group savings of 15 to 40 percent off rack rates. Submitting a request costs nothing, and the group pays the hotel directly at the negotiated rate.
Ten rooms for three nights at an example rate of $209 a night comes to $6,270. Portland's lodging taxes and tourism fee total 14.5 percent. That adds $909.15, for $7,179.15. The hotelhuddle Portland directory lists 278 properties in the city.
Two events share the building on 6 and 7 February
The February calendar carries nine bookings. The Spotlight Dance Cup runs 5 to 7 February in the Oregon Ballroom while DECA holds Hall B. A corporate group that takes the same weekend shares the garage with both audiences.
The next listing after DECA is the Small Business Open House on 10 February in Meeting Room Lobby B. The calendar carries nothing from 11 to 17 February. A meeting that can move one week later takes the building on its own.
What the conference page leaves unpublished
DECA prints its registration deadline and both price tiers as TBA. The delegate fee, the group percentage and the hotel rate stay unpublished on that page as of this reading.
A corporate planner takes the building terms from the venue and the rate competition from the platform. Ask the venue about the fourth morning on the booking. Ask the hotel for the block cut-off. Measure the tallest vehicle against the 7-foot clearance at P1.
