Two days at Moscone West on the data streaming calendar

Current San Francisco 2026 runs November 4 and 5 at Moscone West, and it is Confluent's flagship conference on real-time data, data streaming and artificial intelligence. The organiser counts 3,000-plus attendees, 100-plus speakers, 50-plus partners and 80-plus sessions. That session count is the number a manager can act on.

The pass route for a team

The registration block reads: "Register now to secure your complimentary pass. That's right, Current passes are available at no cost this year. But register early to reserve your spot, as capacity is limited and passes may no longer be available once the event reaches capacity."

Registration runs through confluent.swoogo.com/currentsanfrancisco2026. The portal carries separate routes for General Attendee, Partner, Speaker, Employee, Sponsor, Crew, Press/Analyst and Executive Summit registration, plus a Sponsor Validation tool and a Visa Letter request. The General Attendee pass covers the keynote, the sessions, meals and the reception.

Turn the agenda into a training plan

The programme runs keynotes, breakout sessions, lightning talks, workshops and training, with an AI Alley. The sessions page filters by session type, by the AI Engineers track and by level, with Advanced, Intermediate and Introductory bands.

Four published titles show what a data team brings home: "Surviving the Surge: Netflix's playbook for Kafka Resilience"; "EventBus at Dropbox: Self-Serve Millions of Events Per Second with Near-Zero Ops"; "Driving the Enterprise Data Highway: Why McDonald's Ditched Self Managed Kafka"; and "Sizing, Benchmarking and Performance Tuning Apache Flink Clusters".

The organiser also states that attendees can get certified as a Data Streaming Engineer. For a team running Apache Kafka, Flink or Iceberg in production, that line turns a conference request into a training request.

Free registration for staff who win a speaking slot

The FAQ answers the direct question: "Do speakers attend Current for free? Yes! Once you are confirmed as a speaker, you will receive instructions on how to register for free." A team that sends two engineers to present costs the training line nothing, and the Speaker Registration route sits on the same portal.

A registration also transfers to another person inside the organisation by notice to current@regsvc.com by November 3, 2026.

The organiser's letter carries 2025 numbers

The event page publishes a "Convince your boss" letter. The file it links is titled "Current 2025 Convince Your Boss", and it describes the 2025 edition in New Orleans on October 29-30 with 60-plus breakout sessions. Its cost outline asks a manager for a conference pass and puts the hotel at $215 to $319 plus tax per night, alongside airfare and ground costs. Replace the city, the dates and the session count with the 2026 facts. A second control on the same page opens a Google Doc that returns a sign-in wall.

Shape the room nights around the arrival day

The agenda sets the day flow. Tuesday November 3 is the travel day to San Francisco, with a speaker welcome reception. Wednesday November 4 carries the main keynote, the breakouts and lightning talks, the expo hall, networking and the Current Party. Thursday November 5 repeats the breakouts, the lightning talks, the expo hall and networking.

The night count follows the arrival day. A Wednesday arrival and a Thursday departure is one night. Add Tuesday for the speaker reception and the block runs two nights. Add the Friday morning and it runs three. Fix the arrival day before the request goes in, because the room count follows from it.

The room side, and the questions the site leaves open

The FAQ says hotel blocks arrive in the registration confirmation email, all within walking distance of the Moscone Center. The event site publishes no property, nightly rate, block size or cut-off. Send the request for Moscone West through the bookMyTeam RFP form, and ask for a walkable block, a group rate and a release date for unsold rooms.

bookMyTeam lists 562 hotels in San Francisco, publishes group rates at 15-40% below rack rates, sends a request to 50 or more hotels and reports responses within 24-72 hours. The platform charges no markup on the rate. Most hotels quote a group rate at ten or more rooms per night, and the platform's own wording allows some hotels to discount from five rooms depending on season and availability. A six-person team sits below the ten-room line, so name the five-room exception in the same request.

Run the numbers on a rate you source yourself. Five rooms for two nights is 10 room-nights. At a property rate of $250 the bill is $2,500 before any group discount, $2,125 at 15% off and $1,500 at 40% off. The $250 is your own input. The group rate calculator applies the discount you enter across the properties you are weighing.

Two dates to hold

November 3, 2026 is the last day to move a registration to a colleague. The event opens November 4. Register the team while passes remain, and put the room request in now so the block conversation happens while a walkable property still has inventory.
