The 2027 gate rule and its clock
The 2027 Florida State Fair runs 12 days, February 4 to 15. The 2027 ticket store prints a youth rule for all 12 days. A guest 17 or younger enters after 4:00 p.m. with an admission-paying parent or guardian aged 21 or older who carries valid ID. One adult supervises up to four guests aged 17 or younger.
A team manager turns that into a headcount. Sixteen players need four adults inside the gate after 4 p.m., even when the coach holds every ticket.
Two other pages print 5 p.m.
The Fairgrounds FAQ answers the youth question with 5:00 p.m. and attaches that hour to all 12 days of the 2026 Fair. The 2026 Policies and Procedures PDF, section 9, sets 5 p.m. and describes guests under 18.
Both documents describe the 2026 edition. The 4 p.m. clock sits on the store that sells the 2027 tickets. Buy against the 2027 clock, then ask the box office to confirm in writing: info@FloridaStateFair.com or (813) 621-7821.
The exemption for a ticketed group
Section 9 carries a paragraph the ticket store leaves out. Organized and ticketed group outings, including school, church, corporate, summer camp, sports and other pre-scheduled group visits, are exempt from the youth policy when the group has chaperone policies and practices already in place.
Four conditions apply. The group is organized. The visit is ticketed. The visit is pre-scheduled. You can produce a written chaperone policy. A department that buys 20 tickets at a gate has organized and ticketed a visit. A department that books ahead, holds a ticket manifest and writes down its adult-to-minor ratio meets all four.
Ask the Fair to record the exemption against the booking. The document that carries it is the 2026 edition, so request the 2027 policy paper and keep the reply.
Section 9 stands where the exemption does not apply. Chaperones stay on the grounds. An adult who drops minors at a gate breaks the policy with admission paid. Staff take a misbehaving minor to Gate 4. Valid ID means a driver's licence, a non-driver ID card, a passport, a visa or a military ID.
Bag screening at every gate
Security checks all bags and packages with hand-held metal detectors. The prohibited list covers unlawful weapons or firearms, items that resemble them, luggage, coolers, bags with wheels and full-face masks. Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies work the grounds and cameras run daily.
One easily opened bag per person moves a 20-person group through screening. A cooler in the coach gets refused at the gate. Outside food and drink are barred, except for dietary needs, food allergies, baby food and individually wrapped snacks for children.
Three entrances and no published coach drop
The Fairgrounds publishes three vehicle entrances: U.S. Highway 301, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Orient Road. The venue map places Expo Hall and the Entertainment Hall at Gate 1 on U.S. 301, the Special Events Center and TECO Arena at Gate 3 on MLK, Cracker Country and the Florida Center at Gate 2 on MLK, and the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at Gate 4 on Orient Road.
The Fairgrounds publishes no coach drop zone, bus parking rate or bus gate. Put the coach question to the main line, (813) 621-7821, and keep the answer in writing.
Budget the tickets
Advance admission runs $11.75 for an adult, $7.50 for a child aged 6 to 11 and $10.75 for a senior, each valid one day, with ages 5 and under free. Prices include convenience fees. The ticket store publishes no group admission rate.
Parking is a separate purchase and carries no gate entry. Online sales through February 4 are $8 per vehicle. Once the Fair opens, online parking is $10 and the on-site price is $15. An advance parking purchase covers one entry.
$3 Thursdays sell at the Fairgrounds only, on February 4 and February 11.
Where the crew sleeps
The Fairgrounds lists seven hotel partners with a distance and no rate. Holiday Inn Express and Suites Tampa Fairgrounds Casino sits 0.2 miles out. Wyndham Garden Tampa Fairgrounds/Casino is 1.5, Staybridge Suites Tampa East-Brandon 2.7, Hilton Garden Inn Tampa East Brandon 2.8, Courtyard Tampa Brandon 4.4, Cambria Hotel Tampa-Brandon 5 and Hampton Inn and Suites 5.0.
Camping is closed for these twelve days. The Fairgrounds opens event camping to all Fairgrounds and area events and names the annual Florida State Fair as the exception.
