The badge costs nothing and the floor is trade-only

Functional Fabric Fair Fall 2026 runs October 26 to 28 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Portland. RX states the entrance terms in one line: the fair is trade-exclusive and open free of charge to verified designers, product, purchasing or material managers. Registration is required.

Five buyers from one brand pay nothing at the door. The spend sits in airfare, rooms, parking and the nights the team needs in Portland. The autumn edition carries a Fall Spotlight on outdoor activities, all weather gear, bodywear and shapewear, and RX positions the show around the 2027/2028 seasons.

Three days, 24.5 hours on the floor

Day 0 is the OIA Catalyst Conference on Monday, October 26, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. That block runs 7.5 hours.

The Exhibit Hall and Expert Talks run Tuesday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Those two days total 17 hours, and the full programme totals 24.5 hours across three days.

The 8:00 AM Monday start settles the travel plan. A team that flies in Monday morning reaches the hall after the opening session. Sunday night covers it.

The venue's own events calendar lists Functional Fabric Fair for October 27 and 28 in Pre-Function Lobby D, while the organiser publishes Day 0 on October 26. The day zero room is a separate booking. Confirm it with show management on 203-840-5630 before you fix the arrival day.

The block closed on October 5

RX runs the official block through Connections Housing. The organiser prints a reservation deadline of October 1, 2026 and routes groups of 10 or more rooms to a separate form. The block form asks for a rooming list by September 16 and assigns rooms on a first-come basis.

The booking system shut on October 1 to transfer reservation data to the hotels. The transfer finished October 5, and changes and cancellations now go to the property. On October 18 the block form returned no hotel inventory for any night from October 25 to 31, on both the attendee code and the exhibitor code. The rate a coordinator needs now comes from the property or the housing desk in writing.

Four terms survive the handover. Cancellations need 72 hours of notice to avoid a one-night room-and-tax charge, and a no-show carries the same. The guarantee card must stay valid through November 2026 or later. Connections Housing takes no advance deposit, and no contract is required for exhibitor or group bookings.

Two warnings sit on the same page. Official hotels will not honour direct reservations at block rates, so name the fair when you call and ask the property to match the housing desk figure. Any housing company other than Connections should be reported to functionalfabricfair@connectionshousing.com.

Three nights or four

A Sunday arrival covers Day 0, and a Wednesday departure after the hall closes gives three nights. A Thursday departure gives four.

Five rooms run to 15 room-nights on the three-night plan and 20 on the four-night plan. Ten rooms run to 30 and 40. Set those counts against the nightly figure the property quotes.

The organiser offers no rate on its pages for either plan. Ask for the rate for the group's exact nights, then compare two properties on the same count.

Parking in the underground garage

The garage charges $15 for up to 18 hours with no in-and-out privileges, and a dynamic $15 to $25 at entry on event days. It holds 800 spaces, opens at 6:00 AM, runs cashless and prohibits overnight parking.

Vehicle height decides the entrance. P1 off NE Lloyd Boulevard clears 7 feet and P2 off NE First Avenue clears 9 feet, so a loaded crew van needs the P2 ramp.

Three days of event parking runs $45 to $75 a vehicle. TriMet MAX stops 300 times a day by the front doors, the Streetcar A Loop arrives every 15 minutes, the airport sits 8 miles out, and the venue counts 566 metered spaces within three blocks.

The building is busy on both sides of your dates

The Oregon Podiatric Medical Association meets October 22 to 24 in Oregon Ballroom 203-204. Functional Fabric Fair takes October 27 and 28 in Pre-Function Lobby D. ZERO TO THREE LEARN takes October 28 and 29 in Hall A, and CANVAS 2026 runs October 30 to November 4 across Halls A1-B-C.

That run of bookings tightens the Sunday and Monday nights hardest, because the fair opens on a Monday morning and the next convention loads on Wednesday. Send the room request now.

The questions to put in the request

Ask each property for the rate in writing, the extra-person fee, the parking charge, the walking distance to 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and the cancellation window. Ask whether the rate holds for the group's exact nights under the same terms the block carried.

bookMyTeam runs the request free, defines a group rate as a block of 10 or more rooms, and sends one request to 50+ hotels per destination. Hotels respond in 24 to 72 hours. The Portland directory lists 278 hotels to shortlist from, and the RFP form carries the request. Read how it works before you brief the team on the timeline. The platform's seller-of-travel page lists Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington, so a Portland request carries no restriction.
