The Gasparilla Parade of Pirates runs on Saturday, 30 January 2027, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The published route covers 4.5 miles along Hillsborough Bay and through downtown Tampa. A marching band that takes a slot on that route books transport, seating and a four-hour window in one document.

The published size of the parade

The organiser's parade page and its Pirate Fest overview both state approximately 140 units of floats, krewes, marching bands and social organisations. A band director plans to that figure and confirms the unit count with the Gasparilla Parade Committee.

Where the route goes, and when it ends

The parade starts at Bay to Bay Boulevard and Bayshore Boulevard. It follows Bayshore Boulevard to Brorein Street, turns east on Brorein Street, then north on Ashley Drive, and ends at Cass Street and Ashley Drive. The published clock is 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The lineup is released by the Gasparilla Parade Committee in mid-January and posted on the event site.

The parade marches in rain. EventFest, with Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and the City of Tampa, reserves the right to cancel if dangerous weather threatens participants or guests.

How a unit gets selected

The Gasparilla Parade Committee reviews every application and selects all participants for the Parade of Pirates. The application deadline falls in October before the event, and the committee answers on (813) 251-4500. The Children's Gasparilla Parade runs a separate public application page on the event site. A school that misses the October deadline has no published late entry route to the lineup.

Boats larger than 65 feet need dock space secured and a permit before they join the invasion that precedes the parade. The krewe office handles that on the same number, (813) 251-4500.

Seating for band families

Reserved seating requires a ticket for every adult and every child over the age of two. Children two and under sit in an adult's lap without a ticket. That rule sets the band's family headcount, and a director collecting money before December needs each child's age, not a family count.

Bleacher seats run $55 to $65 by section. First Mate chairs run $80 to $85 at Carolina and Bayshore, and $85 to $90 at Rome and at the Marina District. The Scully Hospitality Experience is $190 general admission. The Gasparilla Invasion Brunch at the Tampa Convention Center is $175. Advertised prices include service fees, and sales tax is added at purchase. Early-bird pricing for both events closes on Thursday, 31 December 2026. Orders run through gasparillatreasures.com or on 813-251-8844, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

General viewing is free along Bayshore Boulevard and through downtown. The organiser asks spectators to hold a route space by occupying it after dawn, bans tents, rope and fencing, and removes banners and signs that are not approved.

Transport for the unit and for the families

Bayshore Boulevard closes to everything except official event vehicles on parade day. The organiser states that bicycles, runners and non-event vehicles do not belong on Bayshore during the parade. A coach that reaches the route after the closure starts has no published way in.

The organiser publishes no coach drop zone, no bus parking area and no bus rate. Those three items belong in the first call to EventFest on (813) 251-3378 or the ticket office on (813) 251-8844. Street closures and the traffic plan sit with the City of Tampa Office of Special Events, at specialevents@tampagov.net and 813-274-8854, and the city had not posted them on 22 October 2026. The TECO Line Streetcar is fare-free and connects downtown Tampa, the Channel District and Ybor City.

City-run garages and lots downtown charge a special event parking rate paid on entry, and the organiser publishes no amount. Ask the City of Tampa Parking Division before quoting a figure to parents. Parking in the neighbourhoods along the route is not permitted, and towing is enforced along the parade route. The event states it is not responsible for vehicles towed.

What the band can carry onto the route

Outside food and beverages are not permitted, and coolers are barred from the parade route. Small soft-sided coolers and lunch bags are allowed for childcare and medical needs only. Glass containers are barred by City of Tampa ordinance, styrofoam is barred, and grills, tents, scooters and vehicles are prohibited. Beer and wine are sold at the charity beer gardens, 21 and over with photo identification, and the organiser states that all net revenue supports Tampa Bay area charities.

Water for a marching band has no published exemption from the outside-beverage rule. Put the question to EventFest before the day, and get the answer in writing along with the unit's staging time.

Rooms for the band block

bookmyteam.org states that it cannot process hotel booking requests from residents of, or for travel to, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington. Florida's notice cites Chapter 559, Florida Statutes. Compliance questions go to compliance@hotelhuddle.com.

A band block in Tampa goes to property sales offices directly. Ask each one for the group rate, the cut-off date and the minimum stay in writing, then ask how many rooms release without penalty. The City of Tampa expects over 300,000 spectators across the two parade days, and 30 January is the second of them.

The four asks that close a band budget

The unit slot and lineup time come from the Parade Committee. The seated headcount above age two comes from the band's own family list. The coach drop and park arrangement comes from EventFest. The room rate and its cut-off date come from the property. Each has a published number to call, and each answer belongs in writing before the October application.
