A three-day championship with a published movement plan
The Bands of America Grand National Championships presented by Yamaha and Sweetwater runs at Lucas Oil Stadium from November 12 to 14, 2026. The venue sits at 500 S. Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis. Music for All publishes a logistics page for the directors, drivers and parents who move a band and its equipment through the building. The event operates on Eastern Time.
Lucas Oil Stadium lists nearly 100 high school marching bands from across the country in the field. Three days of prelims, semi-finals and finals rest on a schedule that governs every vehicle movement.
Read the prelims schedule before the buses roll
The stadium event page posts the daily clock. The South Parking Lot opens at 6:00 AM, the ticket office at 6:45 AM, the East Gate at 7:00 AM, and competition begins at 7:00 AM.
Performance parking: Gate 10 off McCarty Street
Buses and equipment trucks that carry a competing band enter the South Lot of Lucas Oil Stadium through Gate 10 off McCarty Street. The earliest a vehicle may enter is two hours before its band performs, as shown on the prelims schedule. Vehicles must exit the South Lot one hour and 15 minutes after the start of the band performance, unless the schedule says otherwise.
BOA staff meet arriving drivers and give parking instructions. Every vehicle must display a BOA parking pass at all times. The lots do not allow eating, warm-up or stretching, and BOA does not run a bus driver hospitality area.
Standby parking at IFA Event Lot 650
A band that is not performing parks at the IFA Event Lot 650, at 542 Abbott Street, accessible from West Street. The lot sits a short walk from the stadium. The band re-entry point is the South Gate.
Overnight parking and the 6:00 AM Sunday departure
Overnight parking is not allowed in the South Lot. Vehicles may park overnight at the IFA Event Lot 650. Vehicles must depart that lot by 6:00 AM on Sunday morning, November 15, 2026.
Music for All has not published the 2026 parking price. The page still reads "Price per pass/vehicle: $" with the figure to come.
Two pass types, ordered in advance
The parking pass form offers two products. General covers the buses and trucks that sit in the lots during the band performance. Overnight covers the vehicles staying the night. To buy overnight passes, a director selects "Add Another Regional" on the form and then selects Grand National Championships Overnight.
Any vehicle carrying or towing equipment belongs in the truck count on the form. A band that needs more passes submits the form again. Staff parking passes are not available, and personal vehicles must use spectator lots. The pass template is uploaded to the event logistics page on the Monday of event week.
Boxed meals close on two windows
Music for All and Potbelly Sandwich Works offer participating bands individual boxed meals for lunch or dinner on event day. The info sheet asks a director to send the order form to Megan Coss no later than 10 days before event day, and the order form itself asks for the completed form no less than 7 days prior. Potbelly delivers the meals to the band point of contact on event day at the show site. The contact line is 847-954-7125. A flat $29.00 delivery fee applies to each order.
No picnic area, and a cleared stadium
Music for All points groups to the Circle Center Mall Food Court, the Arts Garden and nearby establishments. Outside food and drink are not allowed inside the stadium, and the stadium clears between prelims and finals with concessions closed through the dinner break.
Check-in, credentials and the gate tape measure
Band check-in sits inside the southeast entrance on the main concourse. It opens 30 minutes after the first parking lot arrival time and closes when the last band enters the southwest tunnel. Friday check-in stays open until every Friday band has checked in, typically by 7:00 PM. Each band collects a check-in packet holding the final schedule, the participant segment patches and the event credentials, then completes the Pre-Draw for finals. Student wristbands come out at check-in and are required for stadium entry, including for the restrooms.
Each band receives 31 credentials inside the registration fee: six laminate name badges and 25 field passes. A band may buy ten more, for a total of 41 credentialed adults, and every additional credential is a credit-card purchase 30 days out. A maximum of two band medical staff passes are available per band, also requested 30 days in advance.
Gate dimensions decide what rolls where
Bands enter the field through the Northeast Tunnel, which measures 10 feet wide with an 8-foot height restriction. Pit percussion and props enter through the Northwest Tunnel, at 15 feet wide with a 12-foot height restriction. Groups exit through the Southwest Tunnel, at 14 feet wide with a 12-foot height restriction. Props or equipment taller than 8 feet or wider than 10 feet cannot use the band entrance and must take the pit and prop route. Large equipment and props stage in the Missouri Street Loading Dock and exit the South Lot through Gate 1 into the east lane closure on Missouri Street.
Rooms for the adults travelling with the band
Chaperones, staff and parents need beds near the stadium for two or three nights. bookMyTeam lists 273 Indianapolis properties. Most hotels quote group rates from 10 rooms per night, and some discount from as few as five depending on season and availability. bookMyTeam publishes a 15-40% saving below rack rates on competitive requests, with 50+ hotels bidding per request and responses inside 24 to 72 hours. Submitting a request is free and the group pays the hotel directly. A director can price the stay with the group rate calculator first.
