One Saturday, 42 bands, a closed street
The ISSMA State Marching Band Finals run Saturday 7 November 2026 at Lucas Oil Stadium, 500 S Capitol Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46225. This is the 53rd year of the event. Forty-two Indiana high school marching bands compete across four classes.
The venue publishes three times for the day. The ticket office opens at 7:45 a.m., the North and West gates open at 9:00 a.m., and the first band starts at 9:30 a.m. The listing runs to 11:59 p.m. The band performance schedule sits on issma.net.
McCarty Street in, Missouri Street for props
The venue's own finals map gives the convoy its route. The bus and truck entrance sits off McCarty Street. The right lane of Missouri Street is blocked off for equipment and props, and the prop and equipment entrance ramp, the worker entrance and the loading dock sit on that side of the building. The map places the box office, the reserved parking, the Capitol Avenue entrance and the handicap entrance on the same sheet.
The stadium's A-Z guide names Denison Parking as the operator of nearly 2,000 spaces around the stadium, and it asks any driver with an oversize vehicle to call (317) 916-1760. Accessible parking in the South Lot takes entry from northbound Missouri Street on a first-come basis.
South Street closes at 6 a.m.
South Street is closed from 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., just under 18 hours. The closure removes the street along the south side of the stadium for the whole event day, so the convoy schedule builds around it.
Field entrance sizes decide the prop plan
The finals map publishes three openings. Equipment moves through a field entrance 15 feet wide and 11 feet high. The band exit measures 14 feet wide by 11 feet high. The performance entrance measures 11 feet wide by 8 feet high. Performers enter by the southwest tunnel.
Measure the tallest and widest piece in the prop trailer against those numbers before the bus leaves. A prop that clears the 15 by 11 equipment entrance may meet the 11 by 8 performance entrance on the way in. The same map names the physical and music warm-up areas A and B, a separate mallet room and two percussion areas.
Gate times on the day
The venue publishes the ticket office, the gate and the start times. It publishes no staging window for buses before the gates, so a convoy works back from 9:30 a.m. Confirm the report time with ISSMA, because the band schedule sits on issma.net.
Tickets, bags and the cashless venue
All ticketing is mobile, and Lucas Oil Stadium is a cashless facility. Children under 3 carried in arms enter free. The clear bag policy applies: bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and must not exceed 12 by 6 by 12 inches, and medical exceptions apply at every gate.
ISSMA publishes the 2026 ticket terms. Admission is 30 dollars for adults and 25 dollars for students and preschoolers, and those figures exclude fees. A Ticketmaster purchase carries a per-ticket fee of 7.75 dollars and a 50-ticket order cap. Three routes carry no additional fee: advance purchase in person at the stadium ticket office on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, the Southeast Ticket Office on the day of the event from 7:45 a.m., and a group purchase arranged through a participating school's band director.
The ticket office takes credit cards with matching photo identification. It takes no cash and no checks. Tickets are mobile only and are not returnable.
Rooms for the convoy
The stadium's Hotels and Lodging link carries a property list with a distance from Lucas Oil Stadium for each entry. bookMyTeam publishes a group rate for a block of 10 or more rooms per night, and some hotels discount from as few as 5 rooms depending on season and availability. Group rates typically run 15 to 40 percent below the Best Available Rate. One request reaches 50 or more hotels in the destination, and replies typically arrive within 24 to 72 hours. There is no fee, and the group pays the hotel directly. Start at the request form.
