The three numbers that decide a studio move

Jump Dance Convention runs at the Oregon Convention Center from 5 to 7 March 2027. The Portland page on jumptour.com publishes four entry tiers, and each one changes what a studio can bring. A studio with 5 to 15 workshop dancers may enter 30 routines, with 10 solos inside that number. At 16 to 40 dancers the ceiling is 40 routines and 15 solos. At 41 to 50 dancers it is 45 routines and 17 solos. At 51 to 69 dancers it is 50 routines and 20 solos. A studio above 70 dancers writes to info@jumptour.com, because the limits vary at that size.

Each entered routine carries a $50 deposit. That deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to another city or another event. A studio that pulls a routine before the 30-day deadline applies the deposit to its remaining balance for Portland only. The same page prints one date under two headings, early registration deadline and payment deadline: February 3, 2027.

Read together, the tier sets the headcount on the floor, the routine count sets the money at stake, and February 3 sets the day the studio stops estimating.

Who travels, and for how many nights

Jump publishes a weekend grid on its workshop page as a tentative shape. That page states that the workshop schedule varies by city and that Friday night classes and events run in select cities only.

The grid puts solo and duo/trio competition on Friday and group competition on Saturday. Friday registration runs 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with solo and duo/trio competition possible from 8:00 a.m., the competition block from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and optional master classes from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday opens registration at 6:30 a.m., runs a welcome show at 7:30 a.m., classes from 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., then competition from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday classes run 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., followed by a closing show and scholarship awards from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

That grid needs a bed on Friday night and Saturday night. Sunday finishes in the afternoon, so a Sunday night room adds cost and no coverage.

Two published rules shape the travel party. Every dancer must be registered for the entire workshop to compete, so a competing dancer books the whole weekend. Parents who want to watch classes buy an $85 observer wristband at the Jump Store. Jump states a cashless model and accepts no cash at the store or the general info desk.

A studio that cannot reach Portland for an early Friday call has one published option on the entry side. If Jump schedules solos or duo/trios before 3:30 p.m. Friday and the routine cannot perform because of school, the organiser offers a full refund. The same page makes the $50 routine deposit non-refundable. Put that pair of rules to the organiser in writing before the entry goes in.

The host hotel line, as it reads today

Jump names the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay Street, Portland, OR 97232, phone (971) 222-1234, as the host hotel. The Portland page publishes a room rate of $219 single or double. A banner on that page, dated 10/9/26, reads that the competition is sold out and names info@jumptour.com for the wait list. The page source also carries a host-hotel sold-out line inside a block the stylesheet hides. Both notices stood on 19 October 2026.

The Book A Room control on the city page opens a Hyatt group-booking path under code G-JDCN. The rate and both notices sit on the organiser page, so the point of contact for a room block is the hotel, not the venue.

Transit to the hall is the cheapest line in the plan. TriMet charges $2.80 for an adult fare valid for 2.5 hours on buses, trains and the Streetcar, and caps a day at $5.60. MAX stops 300 times a day at the Convention Center, the Streetcar A Loop arrives every 15 minutes, and bus line 6 stops at NE MLK and Holladay.

The building carries five bookings that weekend

The venue calendar for March 2027 lists five bookings across March 6 and 7. Jump holds the Oregon Ballroom. Starpower National Talent Competition holds Halls A-A1. Slam Dunk Cheer and Dance Championships hold Hall D. The U.S. World Open Taekwondo Championships hold Hall E on March 6. The Abby's Closet Prom Gown Giveaway holds Hall C. The Materials Show runs March 3 and 4 in Halls A-A1-B.

A studio that waits for the schedule to confirm call times books into a building holding four other events on the same two nights.

What the rate request should ask

The competition and workshop schedules publish one week before the event. A studio therefore books rooms before it knows which dancers compete Friday morning and which compete Saturday night. The block has to absorb a call that moves.

Ask four questions in the request. Ask for two queen beds per room so four dancers share one room without a rollaway. Ask for overnight prop storage on the property, because Jump staff cannot help with props and the stage is 40 feet wide by 28 feet deep. Ask for breakfast service that opens before the 8:00 a.m. class call. Ask for coach or van parking that clears 9 feet, since the venue garage measures P1 at 7 feet and P2 at 9 feet, charges $15 for up to 18 hours, runs a $15 to $25 dynamic rate at event entry, and prohibits overnight parking and trucks with trailers.

The studio can compare properties and file a request through the Portland team hotel directory, price the weekend with the group rate calculator, then submit the brief at /rfp/submit. The booking process page sets out what happens after the request lands.
