Three phases over one night

Lit Crawl San Francisco 2026 runs Saturday, October 24, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. through the Mission District. The night closes the annual Litquake festival. The organiser counts 250 or more authors and close to 5,000 attendees, and calls the crawl the world's largest free pop-up literary event. Admission is free.

The published schedule at litcrawlsf2026.sched.com numbers 51 sessions across three phases. Phase 1 runs 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and carries 20 sessions. Phase 2 runs 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and carries 17. Phase 3 runs 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. and carries 14. Each session lasts an hour, and each venue holds one session per phase. Litquake publishes the map with every venue and address on its Lit Crawl page.

Pick one phase and two venues

A team that works all three phases moves between venues six times. One phase and two venues keeps the group in one part of the district for the evening.

Twenty-one venues host the numbered sessions. Ten sit on Valencia Street, four sit on Mission Street, and seven sit on 15th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, Treat and Folsom streets. Every Valencia Street venue holds a Phase 1 session.

The Valencia Street run reaches from Martuni's at 4 Valencia to Ritual Coffee Roasters at 1026 Valencia. Blondie's Bar at 540, The Drawing Room: ANNEX at 599, Good Vibrations at 603, Curio Bar at 775, 826 Valencia at 826, Dog Eared Books at 900 and Artists' Television Access at 992 sit along the same corridor.

Assign two venues per group. Twelve people in two groups of six fill two rooms in one phase, and a third address is available in the next phase.

No RSVPs and no saved schedule

The organiser's notice on the schedule reads: "No RSVPs are necessary, just show up! Seating + space are first come, first serve." The My Schedule tool is switched off for this edition. Nothing on the night can be reserved, so a group arrives at a venue before the hour starts.

Two tailgate events run earlier the same day. The printed map lists Lit & Libations at The Writers Grotto, 1663 Mission St Ste 602, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., and the pre-crawl tailgate at Page Street Co-working, 297 Page St, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Sched listing times the same two items from 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Both are free.

Age tags split a mixed team

The Sched listing carries an audience tag on the individual session. Eight of the 51 sessions are tagged 21+, six are tagged 18+, and eight are tagged All Ages. The remaining 29 sessions carry no tag.

The tag follows the sitting. Monkeybrains hosts Amuse-Bouche at 5:00 p.m. tagged 21+ and Dirty Old Women at 6:30 p.m. tagged 18+. The Drawing Room: ANNEX hosts Happy Endings at 8:00 p.m. tagged 18+ and the 9:00 p.m. afterparty tagged 21+.

The printed map tags four addresses. Martuni's at 4 Valencia St, Blondie's Bar at 540 Valencia St and the Latin American Club at 3286 22nd St carry 21+. Good Vibrations at 603 Valencia St carries 18+.

A mixed-age team reads the tag on the sitting it picks. Where no tag is published, the venue answers the question before the team commits.

The afterparty closes the night

Session 52 is the afterparty at The Drawing Room: ANNEX, 599 Valencia St, and the map runs it from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. A team that wants it finishes Phase 3 within a few blocks of that address.

Rooms for Friday and Saturday

A Saturday evening crawl puts the room question on the nights of Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24. bookMyTeam takes group requests for a block of ten or more rooms a night at most hotels, and some properties discount from five rooms depending on season and availability. The platform publishes group rates 15 to 40 percent below rack rates, and its San Francisco directory lists 562 hotels.

Send one request with both nights and the room mix through the RFP form. The group rate calculator gives a working figure before the request goes out, and how it works sets out the steps a hotel answers on.
