Two Anchors for a Team Block: 13 February and 7 March

Two Dated Anchors, 22 Days Apart

The San Francisco Chinese New Year calendar carries two dated youth-travel anchors either side of the parade. The Basketball Jamboree runs Saturday, 13 February 2027. The 49th Chinatown YMCA Run runs Sunday, 7 March 2027.

The parade steps off Saturday, 20 February 2027 at 5:15 p.m. from 2nd and Market Streets, and it is free to watch from behind the barricades.

The Basketball Jamboree: One Gym, One Saturday

The 2027 Basketball Jamboree is set for Saturday, 13 February at the Betty Ann Ong Recreation Center, 1199 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA 94108.

Retired Francisco Middle School principal Kenny Lee started the tournament. Adult alumni volunteer as referees and support the next generation of players. The published contact is Kenny Lee at hoopsterslee@gmail.com. One venue, one day.

The 49th YMCA Run: Three Distances, One Sunday

The 2027 Chinatown YMCA Run is set for Sunday, 7 March, presented by the SF Chinese Chamber of Commerce over 10K, 5K and walk distances. The chamber routes entrants to ymcasf.org/event/lny-run/.

The 49th annual edition carries no published start time, fee or registration window. The 48th edition, on 1 March 2026, published an 8:00 a.m. start, entries from $53 to $83 and its base at the Chinatown YMCA, 855 Sacramento Street. Proceeds support the Chinatown YMCA's youth and teen programs.

What Sits Between the Anchors

The parade route runs about 1.3 miles from 2nd and Market Streets around Union Square to Kearny Street and Columbus Avenue.

The Community Street Fair runs the same weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 20 and 21 February, on Grant between California and Broadway, with more than 120 booths and concessions and an entertainment stage on Pacific Street below Grant Avenue. The Miss Chinatown USA Pageant and Coronation Ball is set for Friday, 19 February at The Masonic, 1111 California Street.

Which Anchor Carries the Fresher Block

The run. Three distances let a mixed squad enter together, and Sunday, 7 March sits 15 days past the parade, clear of the occupancy window that builds across 19 to 21 February.

The jamboree is the smaller-footprint anchor: one gym, one Saturday, and a youth roster that needs a single night. It lands one week before the parade, when Chinatown-adjacent inventory is already tightening. A planner placing one block places it against the run and treats the jamboree as the single-night add-on.

What to Book Beside a Parade-Weekend Room

Bleacher tickets for 20 February are on sale through Eventeny. Section C and Section B cost $53.46 including fees, Section A1 under the canopy costs $74.72, and Section E3 at Union Square costs $85.35 with a gift bag. Accessible seats inside each section carry the same prices. Every bleacher ticket is assigned to a section and every sale is final.

Children 2 and under need no ticket and sit on a caregiver's lap. SFPD begins closing streets around 3:00 p.m., and the organiser asks bleacher holders to check in to their section by 4:00 p.m.

A property within walking distance of the assigned section saves the transit legs that the closures take away.

The Arrival Night Each Anchor Needs

The jamboree is a Saturday, so a travelling squad needs the Friday night of 12 February. The parade is a Saturday at 5:15 p.m., so a bleacher party needs Friday and Saturday nights, 19 and 20 February, to be seated by 4:00 p.m. The run is a Sunday, so a running squad needs the Saturday night of 6 March. Only the parade is a two-night stay.

Put Both Dates in One Request

A two-anchor calendar is one request. bookMyTeam sends one request to 50 or more hotels and returns responses in 24 to 72 hours at $0 markup, and its San Francisco directory lists 562 hotels on a 15 October 2026 read. Most hotels quote group rates from 10 rooms per night, and some discount from five rooms depending on season and availability. Name the 13 February night and the 7 March night in one brief and let the properties price both.

For a youth squad, the team booking request covers one itinerary across the schedule.
