The date and the parade window

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and Festivities Committee runs its 50th annual parade on January 18, 2027. The committee prints that date on its home page. January 18 is the third Monday of the month and the federal holiday.

A volunteer overview the committee published for the 2026 edition lists the parade from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the park program from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The document carries a January 19, 2026 header. The 2027 sheet is not posted.

The parade forms at NW 54th Street and NW 7th Avenue in Liberty City, Miami. The afternoon program runs at Martin Luther King Memorial Park, 6000 NW 32nd Court, Miami, Florida 33142.

Entry closes November 9, 2026

Parade registration closes November 9, 2026. The rules limit each agency to six approved vehicles. Every vehicle needs decoration to the theme, "Highlighting The Dream". Undecorated commercial vehicles are refused. The committee verifies each submission and confirms it before sending the rules, the staging details and the final instructions.

The participation form states that entry carries a non-refundable fee, paid by cashier's check or money order. That form describes the previous cycle. Confirm the amount with the committee at committee@mlkparadeandfestivities.org.

Vendor applications close on the same date. Approved vendors work along the route and at Martin Luther King Memorial Park. The committee states that vendor space is limited for the anniversary edition. The vendor contact is Cheryal Frazier-White at (305) 335-6241.

Saturday symposium, Monday parade

The committee hosts its inaugural National Civic and Economic Leadership Symposium on January 16, 2027 in Miami Beach. A team that attends the symposium and marches on the Monday books Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights. Martin Luther King Memorial Park sits 10.2 miles and 20 minutes by road from the Miami Beach Convention Center. One hotel can serve both days.

The holiday Monday arrival

Arrival lands on the holiday itself. Miami International Airport sits 6.7 miles and 18 minutes from the park by road.

The participation form names the Winn-Dixie lot at 1150 NW 54th Street for volunteer and staff parking, with staging between NW 10th and NW 12th Avenues. It names free parking at every Metrorail station and a free train ride to the parade and festival. Shuttle buses run from the festival back to Brownsville Station. The form publishes no coach drop zone and no bus parking rate.

Build the coach plan on the parade window. An arrival before 11:00 a.m. and a departure after 2:00 p.m. keep the vehicle clear of the procession. Parade units must be in position by 9:00 a.m.

Cancellation terms when the holiday is the arrival day

Ask each property for its cancellation ladder in writing. Ask which date the penalty starts. Ask whether a room cancelled on the holiday carries the same charge as any other date. Ask for the no-show term and the attrition clause in figures.

Ask the coach operator the same questions. A holiday Monday leaves fewer drivers on duty.

Booking sequence

Book the coach after the room block is confirmed. Give the operator the route streets and the parade window. Ask for the pickup point in writing. The committee requires its volunteers to attend a walk-through the day before the event.

Where the team sleeps

The committee publishes no hotel partner, no room block and no rate. Send the request to each property's group sales office. Ask for a rate, a cut-off date and the minimum stay in writing. Ask for the parking charge per car per day. The published parking map covers staff and volunteers.

bookMyTeam cannot process a hotel booking request for travel to Florida. The site is not currently registered as a Florida Seller of Travel, and Chapter 559, Florida Statutes requires that registration. The same status applies to Hawaii, Iowa and Washington. Compliance questions go to compliance@hotelhuddle.com.

File the parade entry before November 9, 2026. Fix the room block after the entry is confirmed, so the headcount matches the unit list. Contract the coach in December. Hold the symposium seats separately, on the committee's own pass.
