A Ten-Person Team Clears OBT's Group Rate

Oregon Ballet Theatre sets its group rate at ten people. A ten-person team gets 25 percent off regular ticket prices with all handling fees waived, and the company offers flexible payment plans. The production runs December 5 to 24 at Keller Auditorium, with 18 performances.

The threshold is ten

OBT publishes the terms on its ticket information page. Groups of 10 or more people save 25 percent on regular ticket prices, and all handling fees are waived. The same page states that the team provides personalised support and flexible payment plans for the booking.

What 25 percent does to a $39 seat

Portland'5 lists single tickets starting at $39.00 for this run. Ten seats at $39 come to $390. Twenty-five percent off is $97.50, which leaves $292.50 for the block, or $29.25 a seat.

Those figures are arithmetic on the published starting price. The group rate applies to whatever regular price the team's section carries, so the block total moves with the seating section.

Two fee statements are published. Portland'5 says OBT ticket prices include all fees. OBT says group handling fees are waived. Ask the OBT group desk which wording applies to the block before signing.

Seven dates with two shows

Seven dates carry a 2 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. performance: December 5, 12, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. December 5 is a Saturday. December 21 and 22 are a Monday and a Tuesday, which puts a 7:30 p.m. curtain inside a working week.

Four dates carry a single performance. December 6 at 2 p.m., December 11 at 7:30 p.m., December 13 at 2 p.m., and December 24 at 12 p.m. Christmas Eve closes the run with a noon matinee.

A 2 p.m. curtain takes a half day out of the office. A 7:30 p.m. curtain takes an evening and no leave.

Military seats at $15

OBT sells military personnel up to four discounted $15 tickets per show. The seats are reserved by phone, and the buyer brings a military ID to Will Call. Four seats at $15 come to $60 a show.

OBT also sells the Pointe Pass to buyers aged 21 to 35: five ticket credits for $125, usable for any available seat at almost any show.

The building, the fares and the door times

Keller Auditorium is at 222 SW Clay St, Portland, OR 97201, at the corner of SW 3rd Avenue and Clay Street. TriMet buses serve the downtown transit mall, northbound on 6th Avenue and southbound on 5th Avenue. The adult fare is $2.80 for 2½ hours with a $5.60 day cap. Veterans and active-duty military qualify for the Honored Citizen fare of $1.40.

Parking around the Keller is metered street parking paid until 7 p.m., pay surface lots with posted signs, and Smart Park garages.

Two door times are published. Portland'5 says doors open one hour before the start. OBT's FAQ opens the lobby 75 minutes before show time and the seating area 30 minutes before curtain. For a 7:30 p.m. show that puts lobby entry at 6:15 p.m. and seats at 7:00 p.m.

Buy through OBT

Portland'5 states that its box office does not sell Oregon Ballet Theatre tickets. OBT sells them on 503.222.5538 and through its own site. OBT does not assist with tickets bought through third-party resellers.

Two policies shape a team booking. Tickets are nonrefundable, and an exchange to another performance of the same production costs $6 a ticket. A group that may need to move a date should price that fee into the plan.

Rooms for the night

Keller Auditorium sits in downtown Portland, and a 7:30 p.m. curtain makes an overnight worth pricing for a team travelling in. bookMyTeam lists 278 hotels in the city and publishes group rates at 10 or more rooms per night, with some hotels discounting from five depending on season and availability. Its published benchmark is 15 to 40 percent below rack rates. Rate requests go through /rfp/submit.

Access, orchestra and house rules

The OBT Orchestra plays every performance of this run. Three performances carry audio description: December 5 at 7:30 p.m., December 13 at 2 p.m. and December 21 at 2 p.m. Portland'5 lists the house rules as reserved seating, a ticket for every attendee and all ages welcome.

What a group quote covers

OBT's group terms carry no booking deadline, no minimum block beyond the ten-person threshold, and no section-by-section group price. The Premium Experience at $250 a seat is published for individual buyers and adds centre orchestra seating, a backstage tour and a goody bag. A team that wants those seats as a block asks OBT for a quote.
