The Oddities & Curiosities Expo runs Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November in Halls C-D-E at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. The organiser's schedule page reads 40 cities across the US, Canada and Australia for 2026.
What the floor holds
Vendors sell taxidermy, preserved specimens, original artwork, horror and Halloween pieces, antiques, handcrafted oddities, odd jewellery, animal skulls and bones, and funeral collectibles. The organiser states that every item on show is legal to own and sustainably sourced. Vendors source from veterinary clinics, farms, sanctuaries, roadkill and antique auctions. Food and drink concessions run inside the building.
The class doubles as the team activity
Six classes run across the weekend, hosted by The Sleeping Sirens. Opossum taxidermy and raccoon taxidermy run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunset moth entomology and the octopus and tentacle globe wet specimen class run 10 a.m. to noon. Scorpion habitat entomology and the ratalope coffin taxidermy class run 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Options vary by city and by day.
A class ticket includes general admission to the expo for that day. No separate entry ticket is needed, and the class price is not refundable.
The age rules decide the roster. A student under 16 needs a parent or legal guardian to buy a ticket and follow along. No student under 13 enters a taxidermy workshop. Anyone under 16 needs the instructor's approval in advance, by email to Thesleepingsirens3@gmail.com. A ticket bought before that approval is not refunded.
Students arrive at least 15 minutes before the start. Class locations differ inside the building, and staff at the ticket scan point students to the right room.
Seven hours a day, and what it leaves
Two show days give a team 14 floor hours. A taxidermy class takes six of the seven hours on its day. That leaves one hour on the floor before the 5 p.m. close.
A two-hour class leaves five hours, split around the class. Book the working session off the floor, before 10 a.m. or after 5 p.m. A group dinner fits after 5 p.m. on either day.
Re-entry runs on a hand stamp during show hours, with a bag search at each entry.
Tickets at the door
The organiser publishes a day-of price of $20. Cash and cards are accepted at the door. Children 12 and under enter free and need no ticket. Tickets are nonrefundable. A ticket works on either day, once, and it will not scan twice. Eight staff at the door cost $160.
The schedule page and the FAQ publish no group ticket, no corporate rate and no invoice route for a team purchase.
Two nights of rooms
A two-day show needs the Saturday and Sunday nights. Four double rooms across two nights is eight room-nights. The rate set published at this venue for November is the CANVAS 2026 block for 1 to 4 November: DoubleTree by Hilton Portland $205, Hilton Portland Downtown $184, Hyatt Regency Portland $235.
Eight room-nights cost $1,640 at the DoubleTree, $1,472 at the Hilton, $1,880 at the Hyatt. The Hyatt-to-Hilton gap is $408.
That block closed on 12 October. Use the figures as a benchmark for a fresh request. Group rates start at 10 or more rooms per night. A request reaches 50+ hotels per destination with answers in 24 to 72 hours. The Portland directory lists 278 hotels.
Saturday shares the building
The venue calendar puts the NW Martial Arts Festival 2026 in Hall A on Saturday 7 November, the day the expo opens in Halls C-D-E. The HBA Housing Forecast Breakfast holds Portland Ballroom 251-252-253-258 on Friday 6 November. Kumoricon takes Halls A-A1-B-C-D-E on 13 to 15 November.
Two events on one Saturday load the garage and the lunch counters. The garage holds 800 spaces, charges a dynamic $15 to $25 at entry on event days, offers no in and out, and takes cards only. P1 clears 7 feet and P2 clears 9 feet.
What to ask before you commit
Ask the organiser for the Portland class list, the class prices and the seats left on each day. Ask the venue for the show-day parking charge. Put the room request in early, and book the working session for the hour before the doors open.
