Two tickets make the weekend

Portland Book Festival runs November 2 to 8, 2026. Literary Arts bills it as the largest celebration of books and storytelling in the Pacific Northwest. The main day is Saturday, November 7, with more than 100 authors, moderators and contributors across 10 stages.

A team can cover the Friday preview evening and the full Saturday for $45 a head. Two published prices on the festival's own pages give that figure.

The Friday line: $25

Readers Night runs Friday, November 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Portland Art Museum's Mark Building, 1119 SW Park Ave. General admission costs $25 and entry starts at 7 p.m.

The VIP ticket costs $40 and entry starts at 6 p.m. VIP also carries a drink ticket and a tote bag. Both tiers admit all ages.

Readers Night previews the exhibitor fair before the festival crowds arrive. The evening adds a cash bar, a PBF flash tattoo and a prize wheel.

A Readers Night ticket covers Friday evening. Saturday needs its own pass.

The Saturday line: $20

The General Admission Festival Pass costs $20 in advance. The box office charges $27 on festival day.

The pass admits the holder to every Saturday event outside the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Entry runs first-come, first-served.

A full-price pass carries two extras. One is a $5 book fair voucher, redeemable at any vendor at the book fair on festival day. The other is admission to the Portland Art Museum.

Two Schnitzer events need separate add-on tickets. A premiere book with reserved seating at the Newmark Theatre needs a separate purchase.

$25 plus $20 gives the $45 weekend. The two upgrade steps lift the same weekend to $60 a head.

Six people, three ways

Six General Admission weekends cost $270. Six VIP weekends cost $360. Six weekends bought at the day-of rate cost $312.

Buying in advance saves $7 on each Saturday pass. A team of six keeps $42 by buying before the festival.

The voucher returns $30 of the $270 to the book fair. Budget that $30 as book spend.

Free and reduced seats

Youth 17 and under enter free. Veterans and active military enter free with ID. Arts for All passholders with an Oregon Trail card or SNAP ID pay $5.

Each of those tiers needs a wristband from the box office. Each of them drops the $5 voucher.

A high-school ID at 18 also clears Saturday, which leaves the $25 Readers Night ticket as the whole weekend. An Arts for All passholder pays $30 for the pair of nights.

Wristbands and the box office queue

Every attendee exchanges a pass for a wristband before entering a festival venue. The rule applies to full-price, free and discounted passes alike.

The advance box office runs at Literary Arts, 716 SE Grand Ave, from Wednesday, November 4 through Friday, November 6, 12 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday's first stop is the box office tent in Shemanski Park.

Rooms clear between sessions. A guest who wants the next event in the same room exits, rejoins the line and re-enters. A full room admits nobody until an attendee leaves.

Hotel partners

Literary Arts names two properties as hotel partners. Hotel Lucia sits at 400 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97205. Sentinel sits at 614 SW 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97205.

The organiser offers a preferred booking rate through both links and publishes no figure for it. Hotel Lucia's page describes a walk to the South Park Blocks events. Sentinel's page places festival events nearby.

Friday November 6 and Saturday November 7 are the room nights. Ask for the preferred rate in writing and hold it against a group quote for eight rooms.

Getting there

The festival grounds and the museum carry no dedicated parking lot. Downtown garages and street parking serve the district.

TriMet charges $2.80 for an adult 2½-hour ticket. The day caps at $5.60. Youth tickets cost $1.40, and children 6 and under ride free with a paying passenger.

A Saturday adult day on transit costs $5.60. A car adds a garage charge on top of the $45.

What to book first

Umbrella All-Access sold out at $195. That pass carried reserved premium seats with books for both Schnitzer headliners, early Readers Night entry, an exclusive tote bag and PBF swag. The purchase deadline was October 15.

Cover to Cover runs November 2 to 8 across the metro area. Some partner events are free and some are ticketed.

Book the Friday evening and the Saturday pass first. Add Schnitzer tickets once the team settles its author list.

Request the group rate through bookMyTeam's RFP route. Price the two-night block on the group rate calculator.
