Seven Sessions, One Friday
The 56th Annual Estate Planning Seminar runs one day, Friday 29 January 2027, in Portland Ballroom 253-254-255 at the Oregon Convention Center. The Estate Planning Council of Portland hosts it. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., opening remarks run at 8 a.m., the first speaker starts at 8:15 a.m., sessions close at 5 p.m., and a closing reception runs to 6 p.m.
Four advisers from one firm can price the trip today. The rate, the binder and the badge each carry a deadline.
Four Seats, Two Prices
Early registration closes 8 January 2027. Members pay $325 and non-members $425 before that date. Members pay $375 and non-members $475 after it.
Four advisers cost $1,300 at the member early rate or $1,700 at the non-member early rate. The same four seats cost $1,500 as members after 8 January or $1,900 as non-members.
Council dues are $250 a year and include registration for four mini-seminars, the annual dinner meeting and reduced seminar registration. Four memberships add $1,000, which puts a first-year team of four at $2,300. The non-member early rate for the same four seats is $1,700. The member rate pays when the team uses the mini-seminar programme.
Confirm each attendee's council status before the form is filled.
January 8 Does Three Jobs
The first is the rate. The second is the printed binder order. The third is the refund cut-off at 5 p.m. Pacific on Friday 8 January, with a $50 processing fee deducted. No refund is made after that point, and none on materials or sponsorships.
Two routes avoid the fee. A registration can switch to the digital download, or transfer to another person at no cost until the seminar day. The events team handles both at epcseminar@ejpevents.com.
The Badge Clock Is Noon on January 27
Registration stays open to the day of the event. The FAQ sets one cut-off for a clean arrival. Register after 12 p.m. on Wednesday 27 January and the attendee waits at the desk while the name badge prints. After that date every change moves on site.
Four advisers arriving together at 7:30 a.m. meet that queue ahead of the 8 a.m. opening remarks. The badge prints name, designation and company as entered, so check the four entries.
The Binder Is a Pick-Up Item
Every in-person registration includes a digital binder, emailed the Monday before the seminar. A printed binder costs $100 with a registration. Four binders add $400.
The council ships no binder to an in-person attendee. Materials left unclaimed are recycled or sold after 3 p.m. on the seminar day, and no refund follows. The $130 mailed binder belongs to the materials-only option.
Arrival on a Three-Event Day
The venue's January 2027 calendar puts FAN EXPO Portland in Halls A-A1-B-C and the Showstopper Dance Competition in Hall E across 29 to 31 January, with the seminar in the Portland Ballroom on the Friday. Three bookings share the building and the garage that morning.
The garage holds 800 spaces and charges a dynamic $15 to $25 at entry on larger event days. Standard entry is $15 for up to 18 hours. It opens at 6 a.m. on a first come, first served basis, and the venue states it does not guarantee availability. Overnight parking is prohibited, both entrances are cashless, and clearance is 7 feet on P1 and 9 feet on P2.
Parking sits outside the tuition. A team that drives should reach the garage before 7 a.m. or leave the cars at the hotel.
Where the Team Sleeps
The council names The Heathman Hotel at 1001 SW Broadway as the official seminar hotel, about 1.5 miles from the convention center. The rate and the booking link are unpublished.
MAX Red and Blue lines connect Pioneer Courthouse Square, three blocks from The Heathman, to the convention center. TriMet charges $2.80 for a 2.5-hour adult ticket with a $5.60 day cap, and the fare covers the Portland Streetcar. Four riders stay inside the day cap at $22.40.
The Portland hotel directory on bookMyTeam lists 278 properties for comparison, with platform savings of 15-40%. A request costs nothing to submit.
What the Tuition Covers
A full day of sessions, continental breakfast from 7:30 a.m., coffee breaks, a seated plated lunch at 11:35 a.m. and the closing reception from 5 p.m. Dietary restrictions go to epcseminar@ejpevents.com. Seven sessions run, with two concurrent options at 1:05 p.m.
CE submission goes to the accrediting body of the attendee's choice. Credits are requested or available from eleven bodies, including the Oregon State Bar, the Oregon Board of Accountancy, the Washington State Bar, the Washington Board of Accountancy and the CFP Board. Past seminars were approved for 6.0 to 8.0 hours. The council runs no livestream, and recordings reach registrants 2 to 8 weeks after the event.
The Booking Order
Confirm membership status for all four attendees. Register before 8 January to hold early pricing and to order binders. Register before noon on 27 January to avoid the badge queue. Fix the room once The Heathman rate appears, or send the dates through the RFP form now and hold the quote. Decide between the garage and MAX before the arrival day.
The group rate calculator prices any property the team shortlists, and the request process shows what the hotel receives.
