A Brunch That Fits Inside a Monday
The Urban League of Portland holds its Martin Luther King Jr. Day Brunch on Monday 18 January 2027 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232. The program runs from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Portland Ballroom 251 & 258.
The room holds elected officials, community leaders and advocates for a community breakfast, a set of reflections and a call to action. The Urban League runs the gathering each year to mark Dr. King's connection to the organisation. The chapter opened in 1945 and describes itself as one of Oregon's oldest civil rights and social service organisations.
Two Hours, One Room, No Travel Day
The date is the first fact a team planner should read. 18 January 2027 is a Monday. The brunch starts at 11:00 AM and ends at 1:00 PM, so a Portland team spends two hours in the room and returns to a desk the same afternoon.
Leave the office at 10:00 AM and park at 10:15. A 1:00 PM close puts the car out of the garage around 1:30 PM. The day loses a morning and keeps its afternoon.
The venue calendar carries no attendance figure, and the organiser publishes no 2027 registration page on 19 October 2026. A team that wants a table should watch ulpdx.org.
The Garage Covers the Whole Visit for $15
The convention center runs one underground garage with 800 spaces, entered from NE Lloyd Blvd on P1 or NE First Avenue on P2. The standard rate is $15 for up to 18 hours. The garage grants no in-and-out privilege, so one entry and one exit carry the day.
A team that arrives at 10:15 AM and leaves at 1:30 PM uses three hours and fifteen minutes of that 18-hour window. The meter charges $15. Two cars come to $30.
Event days carry a dynamic rate of $15 to $25 charged at entry. Budget the upper end for the brunch. Over 18 hours the garage adds fees. P1 clears 7 feet and P2 clears 9 feet, which settles the van question. Ten accessible spaces sit on P1 and eleven on P2. The garage holds 800 cars on a first come, first served basis.
No Hotel Room and No Overnight
Overnight parking is prohibited in the garage. The visit ends before the garage closes for the night, so no room and no block enter the plan.
The same rule bars RVs, campers, trucks with trailers and similar oversized vehicles.
The January 2027 venue calendar lists the brunch as the only event on the 18th. The previous booking in the ballroom is the Pacific Office Automation Annual Meeting and Dinner on 16 January.
The Routes That Skip the Garage
MAX light rail stops 300 times a day at the front door. The Portland Streetcar A Loop arrives at NE MLK and Hoyt every 15 minutes. TriMet bus 6 stops at NE MLK and Holladay. There are 566 metered spaces within three blocks.
Bicycle parking is free in every area of the garage, with racks on both levels and outside the main entrances: 32 spaces on P1 and 14 on P2.
Cash Does Not Work at the Door
The building runs cashless, including the garage booths and the food outlets. A reverse ATM sits down the short hallway left of the welcome desk in the MLK Lobby. It loads $1 to $500 onto a prepaid Visa with no fee and no personal information, and the card cannot be reloaded. A driver holding only cash takes the garage ticket to a self-pay kiosk inside, which accepts it.
Plan the Table, Then the Transport
Book the table first and the ride second. The convention center sits eight miles from Portland International Airport, and the trip is a morning's drive from most of the metro.
bookMyTeam takes a group rate request at /rfp/submit for a team that wants a downtown property within walking distance. The calculator at /group-rate-calculator returns a band before the request goes out.
