The 2026 Speedo Winter Junior Championships runs 9-12 December at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis. The field fills from published time standards. The club block fills on the same timetable, because the travelling twelve are not known until the entries land.
The field fills against published standards
USA Swimming publishes two sheets. The Championship standards sheet carries the time that enters an event. The Bonus standards sheet carries a slower time that adds a second event, and the meet permits up to two bonus events per athlete. Both sheets print the same qualifying window, 1 November 2025 through the entry deadline. The women's 50 freestyle standard is 23.29 in short course yards and the men's is 20.49.
The entry deadline is published on the meet information sheet: noon Mountain Time on Tuesday, 1 December 2026. Entries open on 13 October 2026. A club that misses the deadline uses the late window, which closes at noon Mountain Time on Monday, 7 December 2026 and carries a one-time $150 processing fee.
The Natatorium lists the meet on its 2026 calendar as "9-12 USA Swimming Winter Junior Championships", subject to change, on a page updated 2 September 2026.
So the rooming list lands late
A club names its room count in November and its swimmers in December. Hold the block on a number, keep the confirmation, and let the roster settle as entries confirm. Team Travel Source states that the hotel confirmation number arrives about a week before check-in, in the pre-arrival email. That email also carries the event's cancellation date, so a club reads the terms there before it releases rooms.
The housing partner holds the block
Team Travel Source is USA Swimming's official housing partner for this meet. Its booking page opens on a Tuesday 8 December check-in and a Saturday 12 December check-out, the four nights that cover a Wednesday-to-Saturday meet. Eight properties on the block list
A search of the block on 23 September 2026 returned eight properties, each with a nightly rate and a driving distance from the Natatorium. Holiday Inn Indianapolis Downtown sits 1.53 miles out at $169 a night with free breakfast. Hampton Inn by Hilton Indianapolis West Speedway is 6.82 miles out at $229. Fairfield Inn & Suites Indianapolis Airport is 7.16 miles at $155. Courtyard Indianapolis West Speedway is 7.60 miles at $209. Wyndham Indianapolis Airport is 8.27 miles at $147. Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Indianapolis Airport South is 10.20 miles at $145. Courtyard Indianapolis South is 11.04 miles at $144 for a king with a sleeper sofa and $154 for two queens. Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Northwest is 12.44 miles at $139 with free breakfast and free parking.
The published room counts decide where a club sits
Holiday Inn Indianapolis Downtown shows three two-queen rooms on 8 December, two on 9 December and none on 10 and 11 December, and the property reads sold out. Hampton Inn West Speedway shows five two-queen rooms on 8 December, four on 9 and 10 December and three on 11 December. A twelve-room club cannot hold one bed type for four nights at either property. Courtyard Indianapolis South publishes twenty-four two-queen rooms and twenty king rooms on each of the four nights, which covers a twelve-room club in one bed type.
The minimum stay closes the single-night door
Courtyard Indianapolis South carries a two-night minimum on the block, and it is the only property on the list that does. A family cannot add one night at the head or the tail of the club window and treat the requirement as met. A club that needs a shorter stay for part of its group is served by a second block at a property without the requirement.
The rates and the arithmetic
Twelve two-queen rooms at Courtyard Indianapolis South for four nights is 48 room nights at $154, or $7,392 before tax, which is $273.78 a head across twenty-four athletes and three coaches. The same twelve rooms at the $139 Hilton Garden Inn rate come to $6,672, or $247.11 a head. Those figures exclude taxes. The meet information sheet publishes parking in the attached Natatorium Sports Garage at $10 a day at entry, and a five-day team or coach permit at $55 through the online meet entry system, valid from Tuesday to Saturday.
Where the block sits against a competing bid
A club that files a request with bookMyTeam alongside the block sees what the block rate is worth against competing bids. bookMyTeam publishes group rates for a block of 10 or more rooms, a saving band of 15-40% below rack rates, a request sent to 50 or more hotels per destination, responses in 24 to 72 hours and no fee to submit. Against the $7,392 figure the band is $6,283.20 at 15% off and $4,435.20 at 40% off. Terms to read before the club releases rooms
Team Travel Source charges a cancellation fee that is separate from and in addition to the hotel's own policy, and it states that the amount and the date it applies from vary by event and appear in the confirmation email. Each rate on this block carries a $50 cancellation penalty. Booking service fees are non-refundable. A guest cannot apply hotel loyalty points or a further discount to a booking made through the housing partner, because the block rates already carry a lowest-rate guarantee.
Book the block, then name the swimmers
